Greater Washington Region Heart Ball
Volunteers Needed for Greater Washington Region Heart Ball

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of all Americans?  In fact, someone dies from cardiovascular disease every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined.  And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.

The American Heart Association invites you to participate in the Greater Washington Region Heart Ball being held February 23rd at the spectacular National Building Museum in Washington, DC.  The Heart Ball is an elegant, black-tie celebration of life, bringing together more than 600 of Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia's most prominent physicians, corporate, health care, and community leaders for an inspirational evening of dinner, dancing, live entertainment, and live and silent auctions.  The Heart Ball is the premier social event that salutes the American Heart Association's impact on the Greater Washington Community.

In order to ensure that the evening runs smoothly, we need approximately 60 volunteers throughout the day and evening of the event on Saturday, February 23, 2013.  We have divided the day into three volunteer shifts:

Shift 1, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Set up tables, auction items, and registration area

Shift 2, 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.: Greet and check in guests, monitor silent auction tables (Must be 21 or older.)

Shift 3, 9:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.: Hand out thank you cards, check out guests, and distribute auction items (Must be 21 or older.)

We will make volunteer assignments on a first-come, first-served basis.  For the evening shifts all volunteers must be 21 or older.  A light meal will be provided during each shift and parking will be available on a nearby lot.  All registered volunteers will receive full event details in early February.
